bio or whatever
yea i'm 27 i'm broke i love music and coding and i hate my service job and i'm teaching myself music production and that's pretty much the basis of the context of this website so i'll add more later bc i have a lot to do
why am i doing this
learning to self-produce as an artist without any pre-existing capital has led me down infinitely many rabbit holes online, searching for any practical knowledge i could get my hands on - from the very basics of acoustic physics and sound waves to the highly advanced and at times undocumented sound design and workflows of the many master producers i personally admire.
all of this information hunting eventually led me to draw a universal conclusion about the practice: the resources necessary to establish competence and mastery in music production are WAY too hard to pin down for (and perhaps due to) being in an age of infinitely accessible information, and too often the foundational concepts of production are subtly obfuscated to encourage resource-dependence, and then paywalled at every turn.
thankfully, there are some genuinely good-faith pedagogical actors out there from whose materials i’ve been able to synthesize my own foundational production framework and continue to learn and elevate my craft without investing hundreds or thousands of dollars i don’t even have into half-baked crash courses or inflated career-acceleration guarantees.
to be totally clear, i’m not an expert on any topic at the time of this statement. if you check out any of my past work, you’ll see clearly that i am not a professional music producer at the time of creating these materials (beginning August 2026), and that i haven’t fully developed my own skills - that’s the whole point.
my intention is to document the entire path of a beginner producer’s development of mastery with as much clarity, transparency, and educational value as possible, aiming to demystify the skill development process and elevate accessibility to foundational concepts for others like me.
so, in the spirit of the incredible teachers who have made their frameworks and knowledge accessible to me online without artificial barriers, my educational goal is to synthesize and translate a deep technical and conceptual understanding of DSP and modern production techniques into the most accessible, practical, and efficient learning material possible for anyone attempting to enter the discipline from a similar position to my own.
best, jayce
